Between Hammersmith and Heathrow

We were stuck on the subway
between Hammersmith and Heathrow.
I had this giant bag that you helped me drag.
It was hot that day, nearly 30 degrees.
You looked for somewhere we could take a seat.
But there was none to find, so you leaned on the suitcase.
Gestured to me to rest against your leg.
We just stood there together, your hand around my waist.
People passed by, my back started to ache.
But I didn’t want to move, I just stayed there with you.
Scared for when the moment would be through.
Maybe I’d miss my flight, school and friends.
For another day with you in the West End.
