It’s 3 am and I can’t sleep.
I feel the creeping in my body beneath my twisted sheets.
It’s too hot, but also too cold.
I wish that you were here to give me some release.
A lonely cat is roaming outside in the streets.
I hear her jawning echoing between the walls,
disturbed by the traffics heavy beats.
Her stomach is growling. She’s prancing in the shadows,
beneath the bridges and the aqueducts,
looking for something to eat.
I wonder if she will find somewhere to rest,
someplace to put her tiny feet.
Beneath the flickering light of a lamppost.
I pull the duvet closer around me,
turn around and try to go to sleep.
