the riverbed’s drought.
His howl is so loud,
I can hardly sleep.
Lonely he flies in
the forest deep.
Flapping his wings,
under starlit skies.
Over oceans, creeks and
streams run dry.
I can’t hide from him
when I hear his cries.
Yellow eyes pierce through
every innocent lie.
During daylight hours,
he can be subdued.
But when the night closes in,
there is no refuge.
