I’m very happy to announce that my poem “Fleeting Grasp” was recently published in Poetic Reveries Magazine! It is one of my favorite poems that I have been trying to find the right literary magazine to place it in for some time, so I am very pleased that happened. In this poem, I wanted to reflect on descent as not just a physical act but a metaphoric journey through love and loss, and the feeling of not quite being able to reach someone no matter how hard you try. I worked with different materials as metaphors such as liquid, clay, dust and water. I was inspired to write it when I saw an image of a woman holding a clay figure.
Read it below:
Fleeting Grasp
To liquid you turned when I tried to linger.
Like clay from the lake you ran through my fingers.
Dissolving into dust as I tightened my grip,
Falling weightlessly with no ripple from the ground.
Carried away by the evening breeze.
Drifting to the ocean after dancing through the sea.
I shouldn’t have clung on so tight.
I just didn’t want to lose you to the waterfall’s might.

The Theme of Falling
The theme of the issue was “Falling“. Poetry about falling often stirs strong feelings, highlighting descent as both a physical and metaphorical event. It examines life’s fragility, inevitable changes, and the beauty in letting go. Poets create strong images of leaves falling from trees, raindrops hitting the ground, or the heart’s dive into love or sadness. These images turn falling into a powerful reminder of vulnerability and change, encouraging readers to accept the challenges of letting go and the gentle journey into uncertainty. Below you can read some other poems that I wrote on the same theme:
Let the Rain Fall Down
Let the rain fall and shatter my dreams.
Let it wash away secrets and sights never seen.
Let me watch a new day break from the mountain up high.
Torn but not broken, caressing the sky.
Moon’s Gleam
Craft me the moon’s gleam so I may fall into your hands.
Lost in an eclipse, flowing free amongst the stars.
Let me evaporate in mist, travelling through time.
Collect me in the clouds, floating high above your realm.

Concluding Thoughts
These poems also explore the themes of loss and surrender. “Let the Rain Fall Down” suggests a cathartic release, where the rain symbolizes cleansing and renewal, while “Moon’s Gleam” illustrates the longing and the transcendent nature of love.
